Manual Therapy

Experience healing hands-on therapy.

Manual therapy is an effective treatment modality that allows our team to manipulate the body’s soft-tissues to promote healing and recovery. Using hands-on techniques, manual therapy can decrease pain and improve range-of-motion and flexibility to stiff joints and muscles throughout the body.

Manual physical therapy is based on careful examination of the patient’s movement patterns, including range of motion issues and the subsequent overcompensation that can prevent healing. In our experience, the most effective physical therapy treatments involve a combination of customized manual therapy interventions combined with targeted exercise.

You might benefit from manual therapy if you suffer from:

  • Arthritis
  • Muscle weakness and imbalance
  • Spinal and other joint alignment dysfunction
  • Post-operative or inflammatory swelling
  • Post-fractures
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Tendonitis and bursitis

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, we regularly communicate with your doctor. This includes initial evaluations and occasional progress notes. This is to:

    1. Ensure that the treatment you receive is consistent with what your doctor is recommending.
    2. Maintain a continuity of care between the professionals who are helping you.
  • If we are asking you to do something that is hurting too much, let us know! Physical therapy should not be severely painful. It is not common to be so sore that patients are in pain or it affects their daily life. If this ever happens during or after an appointment, let us know and we will adapt your program.

  • We recommend budgeting 40-60 minutes for a typical therapy session. The only exception to this will be your first visit, which can take about 20 minutes longer due to the physical therapy evaluation your therapist will provide. We also recommend showing up about 10-15 minutes early to your first visit. This way, you can complete the paperwork before your visit time and streamline the process.

  • A typical order for physical therapy will ask for 2-3 visits per week for 4-6 weeks. Sometimes the order will specify something different. What generally happens is for the first 2-3 weeks, we recommend 3x per week. This is because it will be the most intensive portion of your treatment. After that, it is common to taper to 2x weekly, based on your level of function and progress.

Great facility that is clean and well-equipped with great people who are friendly, competent, and committed. Makes for an enjoyable experience. Peak has been my PT facility for one hip, two shoulders, now a lower back problem, and next month for my second hip. Can't beat 'em!!

The whole team here is great. I had ankle surgery and from the moment I stepped into the office they were communicative, kind, patient and supportive of my needs. If you follow their exercises at home and do your part at the clinic you'll be doing grear in no time.

Taylor was been awesome with all my therapy over the last 2 years. He has worked with me after 9 surgeries after a 30’ fall. He cares about his patients and listens to their questions and concerns. I highly recommend Taylor.

I truly love the people in this office! I was in an accident a few years back and waited quite a long time before getting into therapy because I didn't know how I was going to afford it. They completely understood where I was coming from and made sure to send me home with plenty of exercises to do at home so that I could come every other week because that's what my budget could handle. I am very happy with the results from where I was and where I am now. It feels good to get back to normal things without being in pain anymore. Thank you!!!

Peak Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Training is great for physical therapy. I am happy with the sessions with Taylor LaCouture. He is very instrumental on helping me feel good and getting my range back in motion. I feel better after each session. Taylor is knowledgeable, friendly, easygoing and professional. Also, Henrietta who runs the front office is always a pleasure to talk to on the phone and a pleasant, smiling person to greet and help you when you come in.
